Metal / Normal

A 13-year old swaps an iPhone for a Sony Walkman, making some awesome out-of-context discoveries. From the article:

"That was not the only naive mistake that I made; I mistook the metal/normal switch on the Walkman for a genre-specific equaliser, but later I discovered that it was in fact used to switch between two different types of cassette."

I didn't have a Walkman bck in the day. I had a Panasonic cassette player, with no tuner. So I used to record FM radio to tape in the mornings at home, and listen to the same airchecks day after day, especially weekends down the shore. Explains so much, huh?
